Southwest Guilford High School Principal's message for the week of March 6, 2017

Good evening, this is Mike Hettenbach, Principal of Southwest Guilford High School.

I have just a few quick items to share with you.

If you know of any current 8th graders who are planning on attending SW next year, please share with them that the rising 9th graders will be visiting our school this Thursday, March 9th in the morning and parents are invited that evening to get an overview of the curriculum as well as visit all the options available during our curriculum fair from 6:30-8.If you have any questions, please contact the 9th grade counselor, Ms. Compton.

This Tuesday from 7-9 is the Middle school and High School chorus concert. Come out and support the arts at SWHS!

Support the SW HS Robotics Club by eating at Chipotle, located at 4008 Brian Jordan Place on Monday, March 6th. The Robotics club will receive 50% of the proceeds when you tell your server you are there in support of the club!

Seniors - Service Learning deadlines are coming up. Wednesday March 15th is the final submission for all service learning approval forms. Also, The Herff Jones representative will be back on campus on Tuesday, February 28th to collect any money you owe for senior supplies you ordered in the fall. If you have paid your full balance, you will be able to pick up your supplies. They will only accept cash and money orders on this day, If you prefer to pay by credit card, you can call the number on the balance-due sheet or go online to pay per the directions on the envelope. Please know that Southwest staff members do NOT collect money or hand out graduation supply orders.

We have a wonderful presentation coming up on April 3rd from 6-8 pm in the media center called the Poe Center's Drugs Uncovered: What parents need to know!  As society is seeing an increase in drug use and drug related health problems, the SW PTSA is sponsoring this fantastic program for parents to gain tools for prevention as well as get information on how to respond if you think your child or their friends are experimenting with drugs and alcohol. There is no fee but registration is encouraged and can be accessed on the SWHS web page.

The Southwest Band is partnering with Imagine Travel to raffle off a Caribbean vacation to an all-inclusive Hard Rock resort.
