The deadline for GTCC
applications is fast approaching. Students should see their counselors for
information regarding documents and make an appointment with Ms. Whitlow to
register for classes. Applications are in the counseling office.
To the Class of 2020. The College Board Opportunity Scholarships are a series of monthly drawing scholarships from $500 to $40,000 dollars for your graduation class. Attached is a flyer with an embedded video and link for you to interact with and start earning entries for these national scholarships. All students are eligible for these scholarships based only on completing from one to all six of the action steps that lead to college admissions. Drawings have already begun so the sooner you complete these two steps, the sooner your entries will be added to the next drawing.

The first two steps are really easy. They are to open
a College Board Account and then register for the scholarship challenge via cb.org/opportunity.
If you need assistance with these steps, please stop by your
School Counselor’s office and they will help you.

We have a special program on March 26th, Tuesday, called VIP for a VIP. The VIP for a VIP program will consist of a one hour presentation in the auditorium in the AM for all seniors and possibly juniors providing testimony and statistics directly related to teenage fatalities. In the afternoon, all juniors and seniors will assemble outside for a demonstration of a fatal car crash.
This program is dedicated to the students that have lost their lives in motor vehicle accidents while attending Southwest Guilford High School since it opened. We sincerely believe that through an on-going teenage driver education program and strong parental support, teenage traffic fatalities can be eliminated in our community. We consider the students at Southwest Guilford High School VIP's. If any parent wishes for their child not to participate, please send a note in to the school directed to me.
Spring Blood Drive is this Tuesday, March 26 9 am- 2 pm. Students must have an appointment. Staff and family members that want to donate can walk in anytime before 1 pm to donate. Please email Mrs. Dusek with any questions.
A friendly reminder that this Friday is a Mandatory Workday for our staff. There is no school for our students on this day. Also, this Thursday is the end of the 3rd quarter. Please continue to check PowerSchool to monitor your child's grades and attendance. Last, feel free to reach out to the teachers when needed.
