"Intro to Racial Equity and Social Justice explores the foundations of big concepts like power, identity, and authority that play various roles in our daily lives. In addition to examining the present, we’ll look into the past to deepen our understanding of how we came to be here, in this place; this now, where racial equity is again centered in our national conversations. In doing so, we’ll discover some ways that we might individually and collectively make a difference in the pursuit of social justice while also recognizing that learning truly is power."
This video has been used district wide to provide information regarding pairing student and parent accounts in Canvas so parents can access what is due, what has been submitted, graded, etc. You’ll see in the video that one of the key pieces is a pairing code that can only originate from the student account holder.

The 2021-22 school year
A.L. Brooks Scholarship application will be activated on December 7,
2020. The student’s full application packet must be electronically
completed and submitted with all required information/documentation via the
application system by January 31, 2021 to receive consideration.
The website that houses information about the Program and that will have the link to the application can be accessed via the “Program Information” tab below.
As of 12/3/20 , Final exams will be as follows:
Online Exams for the following courses: English 1, English 3, English 4, Math 2,
Civics and Economics, World History, American History 1, American History 2,
Chemistry, Physics, Earth/Environmental, Physical Science
Face to Face exams, on campus attendance required for:
EOC Courses: Math 1, Math 3, English 2, Biology
CTE Courses: Business Management I, Accounting I,
Hospitality and Tourism, Principles of Business and Finance, Sports and
Entertainment Marketing I, Child Development, Early Childhood Education I,
Interior Design, Foundations of Health Science, and Health Science I
All other exams will be teacher made exams or final projects. Teachers will provide more information at a later date.
The counseling department will be holding a competition:
- Students can be featured on Southwest main page social media sites
- Seniors will send counselors a quick bio of where they plan on attending or applied to, the major they plan on selecting in college and a profile picture
- In order to be profiled they must: complete their applications, login to their assigned counselor "open office hour" time during lunch, and send them proof
- It’s already time to think about registration for the 2021-2022 School Year! Counselors will meet with every student who are currently enrolled in English classes (underclassman only) to discuss options for the following school year, discuss transcripts, etc. Students will need to make their official course selections in Power School when the portal opens (IN SPRING) that’s accessible in their Power School account where they check their grades.
