SWHS Principal's weekly updates for September 25, 2017

Good evening, this is Mike Hettenbach, Principal of Southwest Guilford High School.

Four weeks and going strong! A big thanks to everyone who participated in last Monday's PTSA meeting.  If you missed the meeting but you still want to be an active member, please let me know and I will connect you to the PTSA contacts. Additionally, if there are any parents who are interested in volunteering for our school, please let us know,. We can use help in our Media Center, Front Office and Attendance Office. This can be as little as a couple hours one day a week or up to as much as you would like to contribute. Please let me know if this opportunity is of interest to you. 

Parents, in a way to raise funds for the PTSA, we are requesting a $5 donation each semester. This donation will provide one of your children with a wristband that will allow them to have a jean day every 4th Friday of the month, along with a couple special dates that we will communicate ahead of time. We will do this process again the 2nd semester as well. As we wait for our wristbands to arrive, we will have two jean days in October, Friday, October 6th and Friday, October 27th.  Wrist bands will go on sale Wednesday and Thursday October 4th and 5th in all lunches. More information will be shared with the students during morning and afternoon announcements. Thank you for helping the PTSA!

Southwest Theatre presents The School for Scandal. Performances will be Thursday and Friday at 6:30 PM, as well as on Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon. Come out and support the SWHS Theatre program!

Sophomores and parents, please fill out the survey on the SWHS website. Please answer the 8 short questions so Mr. Hawkins, the 10th grade counselor, can start sending out weekly correspondences to all of you.

Parents of Sophomores and juniors. All Sophomores and Juniors will be taking the PSAT this year. The date is currently scheduled for October 11th.
