Principal's weekly updates and reminders for February 11th...

Good evening Southwest community!

Parents, please help me out with my previous requests to not drop off students in the athletic parking lot. Starting tomorrow, Monday, we will now have a majority of buses dropping off in that lot, as well as our novice teenage drivers. With moving the buses to the back, we are hopefully helping out with our arrival times for students on buses, and also alleviating a little bit of the congestion at the front of our campus. Thank you for spreading this word. 

Tomorrow evening, Monday is the PTSA 2nd semester Walk the Schedule Night. This is an opportunity to meet your student's teachers for the 2nd semester. The event starts at 5:30 in the SWHS Auditorium and we will then proceed into following your student's schedule. We look forward to seeing you there. 

Seniors -  Applications for the 2019 State Employees Credit Union Scholarship are now available on the SW High Counseling web page.

 All eligible seniors must meet the following criteria:

·         Must be a State Employees Credit Union member or is eligible for membership through a parent/guardian

·         Must be an US citizen and resident of North Carolina

·         Must be planning to attend one of the 16 UNC system universities

·         Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher

·         Must have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity and community involvement

·         Must file FAFSA as part of the application

Please go to the SW High School Counseling webpage or email your counselor for State Employees Credit Union Scholarship application.  All applications are due to your school counselor on February 25, 2019 by 3:00 PM. 

Another great event is February 25th. This is our curriculum night for all under classmen and rising 9th graders. Spread the word! While all students and parents will be able to interact with teachers of all the curricular opportunities at SW, we will also have an AP potential overview as well as a FAFSA completion session for those who haven’t completed the FAFSA or have questions regarding it. 

This night is a no miss event!

Please continue to reinforce to your student to be wearing the card at all times. We want the students in the habit of displaying the cards at all times, blue lanyard around the neck, not in the pocket, not inside the shirt, etc. .
