SWHS Principal's weekly updates for May 6th...

Hello Southwest!

Unfortunately, after the most recent tragic event that occurred on the campus of UNC Charlotte, this is just another sad reminder of how important it is for reviewing safety procedures with your child. Please know as Southwest has continued to add more safety and security features, the procedures that go along with them are just as important. Please take some time to ask your students if they aware of the procedures we have been teaching them year after year. If they do not seem to be confident on those procedures, feel free to e-mail their 4 teachers and ask for a quick review in their classrooms. As this year will soon come to an end, I plan on continuing to add even more features to further enhance safety and security at SWHS over the next couple of months with the help from the community. If you wish to make a donation that will be added to our safety and security funds, please feel free to send a check written out to Southwest Guilford High School with making a note for safety and security on the check.Thank you again for your support as we continue to make every effort in making SWHS the safest school around.

Parents of seniors – if you or your child has not already ordered their cap and gown from Herff Jones, it must be ordered at this time in order to ensure that you receive it in time for graduation.  You must place your order at:  www.highschool.herffjones.com.

A reminder that Saturday, May 11th is the SWHS Prom at the Loft in High Point from 8PM to Midnight. No party buses are allowed and all attendees should review the expectations before arriving. We want this to be a safe and fun event. Please have proper conversations with your student before they head to this wonderful event.
We are still in need of judges for our Senior Speech night  on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.  Judges are needed from 5:00 pm-approximately 8:30 pm.  We will serve dinner at 5:30 with a short training prior to heading to classrooms where seniors will be sent to you to present their research.

If you are interested and able to judge for us this Spring please fill out the form linked below to let Mrs. Meier know of your availability.  We appreciate your willingness to give your time to listen to our seniors present their projects.

Please remind seniors to inform their counselor about any scholarship amounts they have received.
Virtual learning registration forms for summer and fall are available.  Have the students see their counselor for more information.

In order for their ALVS teachers to submit final grades by June 4th, 2019, GCS seniors will need to submit all teacher-scored assignments by midnight EST on May 26th.

Teacher-scored assignments include Practices, Journals, Projects, Teacher-Scored Tests (TSTs), Discussions (Honors only), and Explore (Honors only). Final exams and any remaining Quizzes must be completed by May 31st
